Quest

This program will have boys engage in activities, games and conversations that help them to learn the skills to express themselves and their emotions.

YWCA Muskoka piloted a school-based program to support self-identifying boys at critical turning points in their lives in 2008. Grade 5/6 boys were invited by school staff to meet weekly with a facilitator over 12 weeks.  Eight years later, the Quest program was also offered as a Grade 9 and 10 program in four high schools in the region. Quest programs are offered to boys in grade 5/6 or grade 7/8 during the school year. Information and registration forms for this program are distributed in the schools.

Together, participants embark on a QUEST to explore individual strengths and uniqueness, learn about character, build life skills, develop positive peer relations, and learn how to navigate challenges. These topics are introduced through a variety of games, collaborative building activities, art activities and discussions.

Quest After School Program

What school staff have to say about the QUEST program:

"In addition to Restorative Justice Practices, Quest reinforces the model of talking things out, identifying feelings, so this is increasingly more commonplace."

Quest has been funded by the following funders:

YWCA Muskoka, Augustine Family Fund at Toronto Foundation, Heersink Foundation, and Christ Church Windermere
